Dear Friends,
Those of us who work at Tejon Ranch never take for granted the privilege and responsibility we have to preserve this very special part of California and to continue the legacy of good stewardship that started more than 160 years ago. As California continues to grow, we also recognize our obligation, as good stewards of the land, to wisely and responsibly plan for that growth. Both current and future generations of Californians – our children and our grandchildren – will need homes and jobs and opportunities to build a future.
That’s why we view our mission as Preserving California’s Legacy and Providing for California’s Future.
Preserving California’s Legacy means putting a major emphasis on conservation, including dedicating a significant portion of the ranch as a permanent conservation area. It means establishing a preserve for the California condor. Our commitment to continue the historic ranching and farming operations on Tejon Ranch is also part of our mission of Preserving California’s Legacy.
Tejon Ranch is also committed to Providing for California’s Future, all the while being guided by our historic core values of conservation and good stewardship. Our vision calls for the limited, thoughtful and master-planned development of three separate communities over the next 25 years. The developments feature extensive open space so the acreage built upon during that 25-year period will represent only about five percent of the ranch’s land. The developments will also feature the most up-to-date, environmentally sensitive techniques in construction and planning to ensure we can be true to both aspects of our mission – that Providing for California’s Future does not come at the expense of Preserving California’s Legacy.
Tejon Ranch holds both enormous promise and enormous responsibility. As a company, we understand that balance and the impact our decisions will have on future generations.
